This place is wonderful
Nice!
Didn't get a chance to go inside, but another nice baroque building in a city full of them.
The review of James Whittingham is 100% accurate for my impression
Nice
Very nice buildings in Lecce!
The Celestine palace is now the palace of the province of Lecce but before it was a convent of the Celestine fathers. The building is wonderful with a large internal atrium and leads to the other side of the building overlooking a beautiful public garden. The external decorations are astonishing and you cannot be amazed at first sight.
The Palazzo dei Celestini, currently the seat of the Province of Lecce, is located next to the beautiful Basilica of Santa Croce in the historic center of the city of Lecce. The palace, of significant architectural value, was built in various periods and the oldest nucleus dates back to the first half of the 14th century. The building, divided into ground floor and first floor, is characterized by a majestic façade enlivened by doors and windows and by a large portal flanked by two niches and surmounted by the coat of arms of the Holy Cross, symbol of the Celestine order.
